Robert Knox
Executive Vice President
Knox Oil of Texas, Inc.

Robert Knox is Executive Vice President of Knox Oil of Texas, Inc. He is responsible for all aspects of finance, distribution and operations of the Knox Oil facilities.

The history of Knox Oil is an interesting one. In 1860, A.L. Knox was one of the first in the oil fields of Pennsylvania. In 1912, Charles E. Knox, SR., was a leader in the discovery of oil in the state of Oklahoma.  In 1919, Charles E. Knox, Sr., was an American Pioneer in marketing petroleum products through company-owned service station facilities.

During the early 1930's, the Knox Refinery was built in spite of a depression and .25 cents per barrel oil prices.  Also, in the 1930's, Knox Production facilities were expanded into Texas, with construction of a gasoline plant in Young County.  Another plant was constructed in Earlsboro, Oklahoma.

In 1946, the innovative concept of self-service stations was brought west of the Rockies when Knox and his sons opened the first Knox Self-Service facility. In 1955, Charles E. Knox, Jr., Chairman of the board for Knox Oil, moved the corporate offices from Oklahoma to Dallas, TX, in order to establish a wholly-owned group of independent service stations. Within one year, there was 65 "Knox-Less Serve Ur Self" stations in Oklahoma and Florida. These service stations were subsequently sold to Kerr McGee Corporation.

In 1972, Knox Oil of Texas, Inc., opened its Dallas offices and continued to be an industry pioneer with the opening of one of the earliest, First-Class Self-Service truck stop facilities in America.   Today, the seven Knox Fuel Stops in Texas are known by truckers from coast to coast for superior quality fuels.

During the 1980's, Knox Oil blended over 20 million barrels of diesel fuel.  Drawing upon that experience, Knox Oil developed Knox Super Red Diesel Premium Fuel Conditioner.  Super Red has delivered superior performances to truckers for over one billion miles throughout the past eight years.

In 1996, Knox Oil of Texas, Inc., improved their traditional formula by exclusively introducing world renowned detergent technology, already widely used in more sophisticated diesel markets of Europe.  Currently marketed under the Super Diesel Premium Fuel logo, Knox continues to improve the trucking industry by improving fuel mileage and extending serviceability of equipment, while cleaning up the environment with the reduction of diesel fuel emissions.  The ongoing expansion of the Super Diesel Premium Fuel Network will make these benefits available to all truckers as they travel from coast to coast.
