Paul Sacksman

Mr. Sacksman is an music industry veteran and marketing specialist and has spent the majority of his 30 year career creating products and producing programs that uniquely bridge the needs of both the creative and music business communities.
His resume includes 17 years publishing Musician Magazine, Billboard Publications’ influential and award winning consumer music title as well as the creation of the Music Resource Group and two best selling and highly regarded professional industry resources designed specifically for independent artists; The Musician’s Atlas and The Musician’s Guide To Touring and Promotion.
Throughout his publishing tenure, Mr. Sacksman effectively expanded his brands and those of his clients by working closely with recording artists and their representatives, record labels, music instrument manufacturers, pro audio companies, cd replicators, music retailers, industry organizations and on-line music initiatives. Cooperative products and programs include:
- A Little On The CD Side: 24 volume, quarterly new music cd subscription series that serviced over 800 record retailers, 675 radio outlets and sold more than 100,000 subscriptions to active music consumers.
- Live At NAMM: Bi-annual industry showcase, featuring leading instrument and pro-audio products in performance by talent as diverse as Richard Thompson, Buddy Guy, John Hiatt, Gov’t Mule, Andy Summers, Taj Mahal, Eddie Van Halen, Ricky Skaggs, Chick Corea, Albert Collins, Nils Lofgren, Jack Bruce & Ginger Baker, Los Lobos and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
The Independent Music Awards & Best Unsigned Band competition: Annual artist submission programs judged exclusively by “panels of their peers” including: Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel, McCoy Tyner, Tom Waits, Aimee Mann, Ray Davies, Lou Reed, Norah Jones, Joshua Redman, Bill Wyman and George Clinton to name but a few . Over 80,000 combined independent artist submissions.
Paul’s most recent corporate position was V.P of Music Programming for InterTech Media, LLC, an internet based software and website developer, serving over 950 commercial radio stations. Since then, he continues to consult a myriad of companies and organizations that serve the musician marketplace, including ELMORE Magazine and Thebizmo.com, as well as independent artists throughout the year. He is also the Executive Director of The Writer’s Hang, a nationally acclaimed, live New York songwriter series currently on hiatus.
Mr. Sacksman has been a featured speaker for the American Marketing Association (AMA) National Academy of Recording Arts and Science (NARAS), The American Federation of Musicians (AFofM), Association For Independent Music (AFIM), The National Academy of Songwriters (NAS), Berkelee School of Music, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and all major music conferences in the U.S.
