Edward Ponagai
Director, Vehicle Environmental Engineering, Inc.
Former Emission Program Analyst, Ford Motor Company World Headquarters

Mr. Ponagai began his remarkable career at Ford Motor Company. He spent over 36 years as a cornerstone of Ford emissions innovation. For 12 of these years, Mr. Ponagai held positions within the Vehicle Certification Test Laboratory, Automotive Emissions, and Fuel Economy Offices. Responsible for coordinating the EPA/CARB vehicle certification protocol staff, Mr. Ponagai also lent his expertise to the Ford emission laboratory in Dunton, England. After evaluating the effect of altitude on vehicle emissions and fuel economy, Mr. Ponagai was appointed as Emissions Program Analyst of Vehicle Environmental Engineering for Ford’s World Headquarters. For a decade and a half, he routinely negotiated with EPA and CARB on issues related to both vehicle emissions and fuel economy enforcement standards.

Upon leaving Ford Motor Company, Mr. Ponagai was recruited as a Director for Vehicle Environmental Engineering, Inc. With offices in Brooklyn, New York, and Michigan, he is responsible for all negotiations with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the California Air Resources Board (CARB), departmental finance, and personnel development. Mr. Ponagai’s ongoing programs include EPA and CARB in-use vehicle emission verification compliance and fuel economy testing for landmark manufacturers. Numbering Audi, BMW, MINI, and VW among his clients, Mr. Ponagai also evaluates additives and aftermarket products designed to reduce engine emissions and improve fuel economy. Pursuant to this crucial role, Mr. Ponagai facilitates the registration of fuel additives with the EPA, negotiating with the agency to authorize testing of his client’s products at the U.S. National Vehicle and Fuel Emission Laboratory in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mr. Ponagai also obtains Executive Orders from CARB, key to certifying successful test cycle completion.

Edward Ponagai is co-inventor of both the OBD II Vacuum Leak Detection Monitor and the Exhaust Leak Detection Monitor - representing two patents in both the USA and Europe. These revolutionary devices detect and warn of fuel inefficiencies created by a compromise within complex exhaust and vacuum systems.

Mr. Ponagai is a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Ponagai drives an unparalleled level of automotive and environmental engineering expertise into Thinkubator’s green technology initiatives.
