Mr. Blair Underwood has distinguished himself as an award-winning actor/director/producer who continues to showcase his multitude of talents in the world of film, television, theater and literature. Mr. Underwood currently stars as the President of the United States in the NBC drama series, The Event, which premiered in Fall 2010.
Mr. Underwood, along with his partner Tommy Morgan Jr., are the driving forces behind Intrepid Inc., the production company responsible for the TLC series, Million Dollar Christmas. Intrepid Inc. which has multiple projects in development, and continues to pursue distinctive entertainment opportunities.
In 2008 Mr. Underwood won a Grammy award for best spoken word album, "An Inconvenient Truth." He has also produced both fiction and non-fiction works, including: "Before I Got Here," the Tennyson Hardwick detective series (with Tananarive Due and Steven Barnes - published by Atria Books/Simon & Schuster, Inc.). Combining his array of talents into a new medium, Mr. Underwood also directed and starred in a series of video vignettes drawn from the pages of "From Cape Town with Love." These vignettes served as the foundation for one of the first visual books released by a new venture, Vook.com.
As a reflection of Mr. Underwood’s personal dedication, and in recognition of his years of advocacy, the AHF Blair Underwood Clinic was opened in 2009. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the United States' largest non-profit HIV/AIDS health care provider, held this grand opening for its first AIDS treatment center in Washington, D.C. As a further extension of his personal philosophy, Mr. Underwood also co-founded of Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA), promoting democracy and equality for all citizens.
Mr. Underwood’s television credits are well known, including a Golden Globe nominated role on HBO’s In Treatment, Sex and the City, L.A. Law, Dirty Sexy Money, The New Adventures of Old Christine, LAX, City of Angels, Mama Flora's Family, Murder in Mississippi, Soul of the Game, The Wishing Tree, and Heat Wave.
Equally recognized in the world of film, Mr. Underwood’s big screen credits include: Something New, Rules of Engagement, Gattaca, Asunder, Deep Impact, Just Cause, Set It Off, Madea's Family Reunion, Malibu's Most Wanted, Full Frontal, and Posse.
As a feature film director, Mr. Underwood made his directorial debut in the independent drama, Bridge to Nowhere. Mr. Underwood also recently completed production on the film, Homework, opposite Emma Roberts and Freddy Highmore.
Mr. Underwood brings a wealth of knowledge, industry contacts, insight and inspiration to Thinkubator’s strategy development and product creation.
